WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT BRADLEY HALL GOLF CLUB, HALIFAX
CHRIS + KEELEY
Keeley contacted after I was recommended by her colleague who’s wedding I had previously photographed at Great John Street Hotel in Manchester (see blog here). I am always thrilled to receive recommendations from previous bride and grooms, as it is such a compliment and also really nice to know that they were happy with me and my work so much so to recommend me to a friend for such a big day.
So after a few email exchanges, we met at the venue for a coffee and to chat over the plans and I was thrilled to bits when they wanted to book me. I had never photographed before at Bradley Hall Golf Club or even in Elland come to think of it, but although I love photographing local weddings, I also love discovering new venues and to travel around.
For my blogs, I tend to ask my Bride and Groom’s a few questions as I feel it always helps tell a wonderful story and can inspire and help other couples when booking their weddings :-
Where did you both meet ?
We met when we were both at school… true childhood sweethearts
Tell me about the proposal
Wow the proposal was a shock as Chris has always said he didn’t want to get married but we were away in Norfolk and had been to the theatre and were walking back along the beach with an ice cream when he popped the question It was made more special by our children being their at the time, we were all so excited
What was most important to you when planning your wedding day ?
Just a relaxed day with our close family and friends I personally didn’t want a huge wedding
In three words describe the style of your wedding and did you have a theme ?
Classic & elegant with a twist
What made you choose your wedding venue ?
I always knew it would have to be st Mary’s church I would get married and we were the third generation of my family that got married their following in the footsteps of my grandparents and parents It was really hard to find a reception venue close to the church or in the surrounding villages so when my parents suggested our local golf club it fit perfectly not least because of its beautiful scenery! I knew we’d get some fab photos Mark and the team at the golf club were fantastic we can’t thank them enough
Why did you choose Emma Boyle Photography ?
I had seen Emma had photographed an old colleagues wedding and liked her relaxed style and unforced pictures And when we met I knew she would be fantastic, she fit perfectly into the wedding
How did Emma Boyle fit in/work with your wedding day ?
Oh it was like having a friend photograph your wedding, I lost count of the amount of people who commented on how great she was
Do you have any planning tips you would like to share ?
Just relax and enjoy it all comes together on the day and if something is missing or out of place your having so much fun anyway it doesn’t seem to matter
Tell me your top 3 moments of the day
Wow we can’t think of 3 we loved the whole day! The day was just full of love and happiness One thing I will always remember is my son waiting outside the church and his reaction to seeing me in my wedding dress! Even though he’s normally a sulky teenager I didn’t see his smile slip all day
THE BIG DAY
Chris and Keeley got married in April at St Mary’s Church in Elland followed by the reception at Bradley Hall Golf Club which is a lovely venue with the most attentive and friendly staff. They chose this Church as this was the same church that both Keeley’s Grandparents and parents were married in, which made it all the more special.
The day started at Keeley’s parents house, where despite the amount of people getting ready together it was so chilled and everyone was just enjoying the preparations for the day with hair and make-up artist on hand. Straight away, Keeley’s friends and family made me feel so welcome with coffee and cake going around (win win for me) and it was clear to see what a lovely bunch of people they were.
I then headed to the local pub to meet the boys who were in full swing and more than happy to have a couple of relaxed pictures having a pint. We all then headed down to the church together to meet the guests before the arrival of the bride.
The service was lovely, everyone was in good spirits and it was clear to see from the faces of the guests that it was a special occasion for everyone involved.
Following the service, we headed to the Bradley Hall Golf Club for drinks and the evening reception. Luckily the English weather was on our side and we were able to head outside for some beautiful relaxed, natural portrait shots of the bride and groom.
Speeches is one of my favourite parts of the day, and this wedding didn’t disappoint with tears and laughter throughout.
The evening kicked off with a dance off between the kids and the bridal party, followed by an amazing band called The Viva’s.
To top off an amazing day, we even had a sunset which was a perfect backdrop for a couple of pictures of the bride and groom once they were all relaxed after a few drinks.
All in all, it was a fabulous, relaxed and fun wedding day surrounded by family and friends, what more could you wish for. Keeley and Chris, thank you so much for allowing me to photograph such an amazing wedding and to all your family and friends for making me feel so welcome
