CITY CENTRE MANCHESTER WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
LEE & CLAIRE 31.03.2018
Hotel Football, hmmmm isn’t that next to Manchester United’s Ground ? My first thought’s were my boys will not be happy with this one being avid Manchester City Fan’s. However luckily I don’t mind which end of the Manchester football spectrum I stand.
If any of you that follow my work know, I love narrative documentary photography and that coupled with an Urban backdrop is a perfect wedding setting for me.
So the morning started at Claire’s parents house where everyone was getting ready.
I love this time of the day as it enables me to meet the parents, bridesmaids and children whilst capturing the preparations as they unfold. Everyone is really relaxed at this point, sitting back and enjoying the pampering from the hair and make-up artists and sipping a glass of fizz or coffee in my case.
What Claire & Lee didn’t know when they booked Hotel Football was the fixtures for the match and yep you guessed it, United were playing at home that day.
(Massive thank you to Heidi and her fella for giving me a lift to the venue as I was panicking about getting parked so close to kick off)
The fact that United were kicking off at exactly the same time as the ceremony meant there was going to be lots of fans around the stadium and inside the hotel bar. This didn’t worry me though, quite the opposite in fact, I love when there is hustle and bustle and was chuffed to bits when the groomsmen were up for stepping outside the venue into the crowds for some cool shots of them together.
Claire’s arrival certainly caused heads to turn and was so lovely to see everyone wishing her luck and cheering her on as she stepped outside of the limousine and into the hotel foyer. The ceremony room was located on the top floor in “Heaven” and looked amazing with the love letters by ……..and beautiful flower arrangements by ………The views over the ground were fab to look down on one side at United’s ground and across the city of Manchester on the other.
After the ceremony and drinks reception, Claire & Lee were happy to brave the wind and the cold outside for some portrait pictures and boy was it windy.
Fair play to them, the certainly embraced the weather and more importantly had a laugh and felt relaxed during this section of the day. I feel that the last thing you want on your wedding day is to be bossed around having millions of pictures when you could be enjoying the time with your family and friends.
However, it is important to set some time aside during the day for bride and groom portrait pictures as it gives you a chance to actually see each other and just a nice little together time.
My bride and groom portraits tend to take no more than 15- 20 minutes and are defiantly worth it for some gorgeous romantic images.
Back inside to the warmth of the Hotel and everyone was ready for some food and more importantly looking forward to the speeches.
Now I have to say, I absolutely love speeches time, this is where I capture the emotional ups and downs, from heartfelt tears to laughter and a good old belly laugh during the section of the day where the groomsmen are able to basically take the **** out of the groom, sorry but I just love those moments and this wedding didn’t disappoint.
To add more fun to the day, what everyone wasn’t aware of was that Claire had secretly booked a Singer Waiter. If I am honest, I had no expectations of this and what it would bring to a wedding, well WOW was I surprised. He had the place rocking within minutes, what an entertainer and made for amazing pictures for me.
The most fantastic part was when the lovely Gemma had to choreograph a dance routine for the boys to follow, well I certainly didn’t expect what came next…..
Finally onto the evening for the first dance followed by a party on the dance floor.
I knew this wedding would be filled with laughs by the minute I arrived there and that is exactly how I would sum up Claire & Lee’s day.
Guys you certainly had me laughing whilst editing these fabulous documentary moments of you all.
